Hutchings Museum Expansion Project

The Hutchings Museum began with an inspired gift by John Hutchings to the city of Lehi of his extensive collection. John was born in Lehi in 1889, and spent his life as a geologist, naturalist, explorer, collector, and all-around expert in many things. His love of teaching and ever-growing collection lead him to create The Hutchings Museum, which opened its doors to the public in 1955, offering exhibitions of historical artifacts and natural history. The Hutchings Museum is deeply rooted in culture, community, and education. Over time, the museum evolved, accepted donations to its collection, and began displaying them to the public. Much of the collection has never been displayed and is still in storage. We intend to expand our venue in order to display the rest of the collection, host traveling exhibits and display newly acquired artifacts.

Our vision is to continue being a hub of community learning and enjoyment. Through our educational approach, all of us at the Hutchings Museum strive to spark curiosity, promote wildlife conservation, and ignite the spirit of exploration.

Corporate Partners assist the Hutchings Museum in fulfilling our mission of preservation, conservation, exploration, stewardship, and education, to the community. The Hutchings Museum is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt public charitable organization. Our vision is to continue being a hub of community learning and enjoyment. Our partners are vital to the overall success of the museum. We invite you to help the Hutchings Museum in its mission and purpose.

Every exhibit, every program, and truly everything we do at the museum, is driven by our core values: preservation, restoration, conservation, exploration, stewardship, and education. These values, which also align with the American Alliance of Museums Code of Ethics for Museums, support those of John and his wife and partner in exploration Eunice, and we hold to them for all decisions regarding the Hutchings Museum.
