Texas Instruments has been a great example of how businesses can help our local wildlife. They installed a kestrel box and we helped them get a camera set up to monitor the box and help these birds in crisis. Kestrels are the smallest Falcon in North America. Recently their population has been declining. These Boxes are so important because they allow safe homes for these birds, as they do not make their own nests, and for them to be safely banded to help in the efforts of learning how to protect this declining species.
How you can help protect the kestrels
Volunteers can help document and record activity taking places in and around the museum’s kestrel boxes placed around Utah Lake and the Jordon River.
